An Instance of a Postesophageal Left Subclavian Artery, an Ununited Right Oviduct, and the Absence of the Right Kidney in the Same Individual

The following unusual variations were observed while making a routine dissection of a newborn white child. The left subclavian artery arises from the right subclavian on the right side of the neck. It then curves upward and to the left and passes dorsally, in succession, the right internal jugular vein, common carotid artery, vagus, cervical sympathetic and inferior laryngeal nerves, and the scalenus anticus muscle. It continues to the left, dorsal to the trachea, esophagus, left inferior laryngeal, the fused middle and inferior ganglia of the cervical sympathetic and vagus nerves, the common carotid artery, internal jugular vein, and scalenus anticus musde. It then crosses the first rib and continues as the left axillary artery. At the junction there is a slight enlargement.
